CASE STUDY: CB HORNE

C.B. Horne was established in 1982 to process king and queen scallops, day-fished from the clear waters surrounding the Isle of Man and supply to the trade throughout the UK and Europe, where its name has become synonymous with produce of the highest quality.
Thanks to early measures taken to prevent over fishing and introduction of conservation restrictions on the size of scallop landed, the Isle of Man is well known for the larger scallop. Its fisheries are well managed and with continuous research over the past two decades the Isle of Man has more information on scallop-fishing then anywhere else in Europe, which will help to secure the long-term sustainability and quality of its seafood industry.
Because of the short fishing season it was essential that CB Horne had a reliable, cost-efficient, temperature-controlled operation that would to get their product from the island to market and, in some cases, to hold the product in storage until their customers were ready to take delivery.
Using our purpose-built cold store facility at our Lancashire depot and our temperature-controlled fleet, Trade Distribution was able to satisfy CB Horne’s requirements and ensure that orders from their UK and European customers were fulfilled on time, every time in full.
